Secure Login
When you sign in to Online Banking with BankDirect, your access ID and password are protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. An encrypted connection between your browser and the server is established before your login information is transmitted.
Where's the lock? 
You may notice that the "https:" prefix and the lock icon aren't present on the page where you see the login box. These are the typical visible indicators that your session is protected by SSL technology. They'll appear when your browser is notified by the server that the encrypted connection requested has been established and a valid access ID and password have been received over that connection. Your access ID and password are not transmitted until the SSL request has been received and the encrypted connection have been established by the server.
Why is it done this way?
It offers you the convenience of logging in to Online Banking or Manage Your Account from any page on the site. This gives you the fastest possible performance while providing the same level of security you need when transmitting sensitive or personal information.
